Anaesthetist-provided pre-hospital advanced airway management in children:a descriptive study

Editor’s key points summary:

  1. Paediatric airway management is not as easy as you might think, especially in emergencies and prehospital
  2. The authors’ suggestion that only anaesthetists trained in paediatric airways and undertaking regular hospital training including simulation, should be managing paediatric prehospital airways is quite a bold statement and not necessarily supported by the very limited data they present here.
  3. The excellent point by this study to note is that we all need regular training on paediatric airway management and its not all about VL and scalpel bougie!
