Kudos to the work of the Difficult Airway Society in UK. They are updating their intubation guidelines and have released an April 2015 draft for open comment/feedback. Check it out and help them produce a worthy publication for us all!
My thoughts on the April Draft :
- cricoid pressure to be removed as needed = good idea!
- Video laryngoscopy is standard recommendation = fair enough
- Scalpel bougie cric as default = good but need to add in finger. Several cases I am aware of that without use of finger confirmation, bougie went into soft tissues
