My friend Minh from the PHARM blog has been hit hard by the news of a ketamine shortage. I haven’t the wherewithal to set up a benefit concert for Minh, but the least I could do was record this number to help ease his pain (although in a way that ketamine never could)
Thanks to our great friend Dr Jim DuCanto for demonstrating this technique!
This video has been peer reviewed by myself and Dr Tim Leeuwenburg
Tim provides the following commentary:
Useful little video demonstrating an extra ‘pearl’ to the VL armamentorium
Not traditionally a fan of the GlideRite stylet myself, I would suggest practice on mannikin and theatre to master the ‘pop and drop’ technique of offloading the ETT
This DOES help with the problem of KV (like other Bullard-type blades) allowing great view of the glottic opening, which doesn;t always translate into tube delivery
Will we see KingVsiion market their device with a stylet in future?
I met this NSW paramedic at SMACCGOLD and he has a great blog and podcast just launched. Check it out! His interests are prehospital care, training and education and kit ( as in prehospital gear that he reviews for personal use)
